About

Built in the Cowichan Valley

Arbutus Machine Works is the equipment line of Wroughtenart Inc., a metal fabrication shop in Duncan, British Columbia with more than 25 years of building in steel.

The shop

Every part made and assembled in one place

We cut, form, weld, coat and assemble each machine in our own shop: a 5 × 10 ft fiber laser, CNC press brake, laser and TIG welding, and a large-format powder coating line. That means tight control over quality, and parts and repairs that don't have to cross a border.

We designed the Arbutus 120 for Canadian soap makers who want a production cutter built close to home instead of imported, and built it around what matters on a production floor: square bars, easy cleaning and a machine staff can run safely.

The name

Why Arbutus

The arbutus is Canada's only native broadleaf evergreen. It grows on the rocky coast of Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands, and holds on through wind, salt and drought. That's what we want from our machines: built where they grow, made to last.
